About Me

Dr. Weizhong Chen is an Associate Professor and doctoral supervisor (cultivation) at the School of Electronic Information, Xi'an Polytechnic University, where he also serves as the director of the Control Theory and Applications Laboratory at the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Equipment. He received his PhD in Control Science and Engineering from the School of Astronautics, Harbin Institute of Technology, in 2023.

His research focuses on switched systems, intelligent control, and state estimation, with applications to unmanned systems, formation control, flexible-joint robots, networked control systems, fault diagnosis, and AI-based medical image processing. He has led seven research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and provincial and municipal programs, and has published more than 50 papers with over 500 citations, including first- or corresponding-author articles in Automatica and IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control.

His work combines set-membership estimation methods (zonotopes, ellipsoid bundles, and polytopes), switching-signal-based Lyapunov functions, and event-triggered and asynchronous control techniques, with applications ranging from traffic flow prediction and aero-engine systems to flexible-joint robots and multi-vehicle formation control.
